RIBA Architecture Ambassador training in Lincoln!

Last week, we had the fantastic opportunity to organise the RIBA Ambassador Training at the School with Architecture students, staff and Lincolnshire Architects! Thank you Fiona MacDonald and Lucy Grierson for presenting to us and setting us a workshop task that immediately got us all thinking doing and talking! We are looking forward to organising workshops with school children in Lincolnshire very soon! For more information or if you wish to be involved please contact us!

what makes architecture alive – The Organe Accumulator!

This year our 4th year students contemplated the question of “what makes architecture alive” and designed the Orgone Accumulator which is a tribute to the work of Wilhelm Reich. This student and research project came into being thanks to the cooperation between our Master’s Course, the Library and the Centre of Experimental Ontology (CEO) run by Graham Freestone.

The project was not easy to turn from visions into reality but thanks to external funding from the CEO and the creativity of our great students, as well as help from our Friends at the Workshop, now a real Orgone Accumulator is to be enjoyed at the Library and it will soon begin its trip across the University and Lincoln.

This year also a journal will be published which will talk about this project. The journal will also contain essay contributions from some of our students. Two radio programs about this project have been broadcast at Radio Sirene and BBC featuring interviews with Graham Freestone and Dr Marcin M Kolakowski, the 4th year coorodinator.

We would like thank in particular 4th year students, who dedicated a lot of energy and work to this project, Doina Carter – a fantastic course leader who really knows how to support this kind of projects, and of course Graham Freestone without whom this project would not have been possible. Special thanks go to our friends from the workshop team who helped us tremendously with the construction of this project.

Great job everyone!

Architecture Mock Interviews

As a part of the collaboration between the Lincolnshire Society of Architects and the University of Lincoln we organised mock interviews for our students to give them a valuable experience to help them prepare for finding employment. We have to thank our Lincolnshire Architects for their enthusiasm and support for the initiative.
